Oh dear! So much for group members at the event keeping those of you who weren't able to be there up to date... I apologise on behalf of everyone.

The only excuse is that we were busy 'doing things'.

The Ramada Hotel in Coventry now knows us pretty well - and upgraded almost all of us from basic rooms to the slightly more up-market ones that have their own wee sitting area.

They also coped with the request for us to be able to watch Eurovision as a group - reserving the TV end of the bar for us so that we could all sit and snark and cheer/jeer as the acts required, whilst drinking assorted beverages, many of them of an alcoholic nature. I have discovered that I rather like Martini after-eight cocktails!

But this is looking past the main part of the event...

I return to Saturday morning under this cut )

And I will finish there for now - much fun had, things learnt - and the report still to come from when we actually shared what we had learnt with each other on Sunday morning.

It's this Friday!

It's This Friday!

Are you excited yet?

Bring your excitement! Bring your enthusiasm! Bring your best heckles and one-liners!

FRIIIIIDAAAAAY!!!!

Ahem.

Your committee would just like to quietly and professionally remind you that The Event begins this Friday and is scheduled to last until the alcohol runs out Sunday afternoon.

Thank you.

We have dates! And now so do you!

Set aside the weekend of May 25th to 27th, 2012 in your calendars and get set for revelry, and maybe some learning if we can squeeze it in between the cocktails and the cocktails.

The usual hotel (Coventry Ramada) is the venue and we're currently negotiating details of rates with them. We'll let you know as soon as we have the numbers.

In the meantime, why not spread the word!

We know everyone is eagerly awaiting the results of the poll to find the best dates for next year's Event.

At the moment we can tell you that the months of choice in order of choice are as follows:

May
August
July

The delay now is that we are waiting on the hotel to confirm for us which weekends in those months they have space available for our booking. As soon as we hear from them we will post to the comms with a choice of the available weekends.

Well we reasoned, begged, pleaded and bribed, but still the Olympics committee wouldn't move the dates of their little get together. This is inconvenient as it could cause us difficulties with minor issues such as transport and booking the hotel. How rude.

So. Given they are unwilling to move their 'event', we are considering moving ours.

Therefore we are having... a Poll!

Yes! Isn't that exciting? Haven't you always wanted more polls in your life?

Well now you can!

Just fill in the little poll at the Writercon UK livejournal, and you'll notice there are extra bonus questions! More poll for the price of one!
